Connecting people who care with people in need is our mission. The employees and volunteers of CVNL Volunteer Napa have connected caring individuals to people who need help for over 40 years! Our programs have been developed to meet the ever-changing needs of our community and incorporate and promote opportunities to serve through volunteerism. We are committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteerism in Napa Valley by helping people help themselves and others.
We live our core value of volunteerism through our commitment to providing services to existing community-based organizations. Historically, we have taken an extra step in building the capacity of Napa County to provide for its most vulnerable populations. When the community identified a gap in service, CVNL Volunteer Napa stepped up with innovative programs.
Volunteer Napa’s Recruitment and Referral program provides a single point of contact to mobilize Napa Valley’s Community members, local businesses and non-profits in both good times and in times of disaster. We have been happily called the Match-dot-Com for community volunteers and community agencies.
Our new Volunteer Portal is open 24/7 for everyone serving Napa and Marin
It’s ready to engage with now. It’s made to be fast and easy to use — responsive and optimized to work on virtually any device you choose. It’s a powerful tool to connect nonprofits and volunteers directly to the causes they care about. Every day, new organizations are joining the community. We’ve reached out to thousands of volunteers connected with CVNL in Marin and Napa to update their profiles where they’ll select their causes and give back. Agencies and volunteers, you’re invited to explore and experience it.

Nonprofits depend on corporate support to provide volunteers, board members, and off-set their limited budgets. Studies suggest that one of the top 10 drivers of employee engagement is the company’s reputation for social responsibility. Corporate Projects can help inspire your employees and enable your business to give back more easily. A great example is CVNL Volunteer Napa’s day-long Corporate Project in November 2015 with Diageo Chateau & Estate Wines — where nearly 200 volunteered at LightHouse’s Enchanted Hills Camp for the Blind. Consulting, training, and Service Enterprise Initiative (SEI)
Volunteer leadership and management is a hallmark of CVNL — guiding people and organizations to maximize volunteerism to have greater impact in service of their missions. The Consulting Services team at CVNL is experienced and capable of helping build volunteer capacity with custom-designed programs. CVNL is a SEI-certified and trains nonprofits in both Marin and Napa to become Service Enterprise Certified. Discover more about Consulting Services and SEI.
Providing a safe environment for nonprofits, clients and volunteers is important for everyone. One of the ways to help insure a safer place is by running compliant background checks. Typical background screening processes are costly and time consuming for both the volunteer and for the organization. CVNL’s partnership with Verified Volunteers makes the background screening process faster and more user-friendly for nonprofits and their volunteers through a streamlined platform. Learn more.
Emergency Volunteer Center (EVC)
We’re a go-to for volunteering when a disaster is declared in Marin and Napa Counties. CVNL EVC’s along with the Red Cross, Food Bank, Salvation Army, County of Marin, County of Napa, Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and other partners in Marin and Napa are activated. We all know each other and collaborate to respond to the most urgent needs. We organize and coordinate spontaneous community volunteers during times of disaster. CVNL Volunteer Napa has an agreement with the County of Napa and the City of Napa to be the convening point for CERT trained and spontaneous unaffiliated volunteers during times of disaster. Napa County residents trained in CERT has have doubled from 2004 and 2005 levels. The local Citizen Corps Council was disbanded but, at the request of the County OES, CVNL Volunteer Napa agreed to chair the Disaster Education Task Force. Napa County residents and nonprofits have made a strong commitment to our 100% prepared community goal. Learn more about EVC.
