Giving Tuesday – December 1, 2020

Be a part of the biggest day of giving on the Planet!

Every year, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, nonprofit organizations and donors connect through GivingTuesday a way to give back and support communities following Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

GivingTuesday benefits organizations large and small and no matter their size, all organizations can benefit from some guidance when conducting a campaign.  We’ve compiled some information from the Giving Tuesday website.  This is literally the biggest day of giving in the world, so you want to be a part of it!

We gleaned all this information directly from the GivingTuesday website because, why wouldn’t we?  Remember, THIS IS ALL THEY DO!  Their information is top notch, and their practices are proven.  Let them lead you through a successful fundraising campaign.

Your GivingTuesday To Do List For This Week

  1. Set your GivingTuesday Goal
You should have a goal in mind to make executing the plan meaningful and efficient.  Use the formula set up on the GivingTuesday website to help you with this. Their Goals and Measurements Worksheet will walk you through the steps and help you create your fundraising plan.
  2. Send a calendar invitation to your supporters right away.  Make sure it includes clear instructions for what you want them to do on December 1st.  GivingTuesday suggests Add Event to do this.
  3. Share your GivingTuesday goals on all your social media channels.  Use the prompt below or create your own template using a free online app like Canva.
  4. Decide the details about your campaign by using GivingTuesday’s downloadable Workbook.  You might consider hosting a virtual event or engaging Peer-to-Peer fundraisers.  Or reach out to a business partner and develop a matching donation agreement.

GivingTuesday is an opportunity to communicate with your donors, clients, and friends.  At a minimum you will connect meaningfully with current donors. They’ve stood by you through thick and thin and chances are, they will continue to support you.  They value you, so let them help.

For more on GivingTuesday, please visit GivingTuesday  page and register your agency, start your campaign and get busy communicating. This just might help you fill the gap that resulted from all that has happened in 2020.
