Solano County is calling on volunteers to unite for its second major cleanup day of the year, happening this Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Lake Berryessa.
Hosted in honor of World Environment Day, this event will bring together community members to help remove litter, plant native species, prepare take-home seed packets, and restore local soil health. Volunteers will also be treated to a free picnic lunch as a thank-you for their efforts.
This year’s theme centers on ending plastic pollution. The statistics are staggering: more than 1 million plastic bottles are purchased globally every minute, yet only a fraction are recycled. Most end up clogging storm drains, polluting waterways, and eventually reaching our oceans. Scientists warn that by 2050, plastics in the ocean could outweigh the fish.

This event is made possible through partnerships with the Solano County Water Agency, Anheuser-Busch Fairfield, Solano Volunteers/CVNL, Solano County Parks, Putah Creek Council, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and MCE Energy.
