About the Role:
We are seeking a Director of Operations to join our leadership team and ensure the smooth, efficient, and strategic day-to-day operations of the Senior Center. This is a people-centered, hands-on role that involves supervising staff, supporting volunteers, managing facilities, and ensuring compliance across all operational areas. The Director of Operations also plays a key role in shaping systems, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting strategic goals that enhance the experience of everyone who walks through our doors. Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & HR Support
- Supervise front office staff and Harvest Café manager
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace where staff and volunteers are empowered to lead
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation in collaboration with the Executive Director
- Promote consistent and fair HR practices and ensure compliance with labor laws
- Serve as a secondary leader to staff managing volunteers
Center & Facilities Operations
- Oversee daily center operations, including vendor relationships, inventory, IT systems, and facility maintenance
- Ensure compliance with permits, insurance, HR documentation, and safety requirements
- Maintain standard operating procedures and operational documentation
- Provide coverage and support across departments when needed
Membership & Rentals
- Manage membership systems in collaboration with front desk staff
- Monitor membership trends and improve the program experience
- Coordinate scholarships and manage facility rentals outside business hours
Strategic & Safety Planning
- Identify operational needs related to facilities, equipment, and technology
- Maintain emergency preparedness plans and safety protocols
- Support long-term staffing and organizational structure planning with the Executive Director
Additional Support
- Collaborate with the Executive Director on fundraising tasks, compliance documentation, and strategic initiatives
- Support The Legacy thrift store operations by creating and maintaining SOPs and documentation
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages three staff: two front desk team members and the Harvest Café manager. Responsible for training, performance management, scheduling, and ongoing development in alignment with organizational policies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience managing staff
- Prior experience managing volunteers
- Prior customer relations experience
- Prior facility management experience
