CVNL Placement Announcement: Ashley Rojas Named Executive Director of Fresno Barrios Unidos (FBU)

CVNL is pleased to announce that Ashley Rojas has been selected as the new Executive Director of Fresno Barrios Unidos (FBU). Ashley is a Fresno-native returning home after spending several years working in the Bay Area. She is driven by a deep passion to maintain an inter-sectional and equity-based approach to public health that is rooted in liberation education, trauma-informed systems, healing-centered care, harm reduction, and justice. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Community-Based Public Health from San Francisco State University.

Her professional work as a public health worker has been focused on adolescent health and advocating for the well-being of youth. Ashley believes deeply that when young people are supported holistically, they are empowered to contribute to their communities in profound ways as unstoppable agents of change. In her previous position as Project Director for Adolescent Health Working Group in San Francisco, she was crucial in the implementation of the California Health Youth Act curricula “Be Real Be Ready.” In that capacity, she led multi-system collaboratives to ensure youth have access to reproductive health education and clinical services.

“As Fresno Barrios Unidos begins a new chapter, we are looking forward to many exciting opportunities ahead. We believe Ashley will help us continue to empower youth and families through advocacy, education, and wellness,” said former Board President and search committee chair Ashley Emerzian.

FBU is a community benefit organization that has been serving the community for over twenty-three years, with an array of programs and services that provide young people with the skills and opportunities they need to thrive in their communities and give back.

Please join us in officially welcoming Ashley to the Fresno Barrios Unidos family!
