CVNL Placement Announcement: Aaron Alarcon-Bowen Named Executive Director with IHSS PA of Marin

IHSS PA of Marin is delighted to announce the selection of Aaron Alarcon-Bowen as its new Executive Director. Aaron will be responsible for the organization’s overall management, operations and development during this exciting next stage of growth. Aaron’s position will start on March 6, 2017.

Aaron brings more than 17 years of experience in public service, most recently overseeing In-Home Supportive Services Program Integrity for the County of Marin. Prior to working in Marin County, Aaron spent five years as Family Services Program Director for Catholic Charities of Dallas, Texas. He has been responsible for the recruitment process of potential foster parents for ChildNet Youth and Family Services in Long Beach, CA and worked as a Guardianship Specialist and Guardianship Program Director for the legally and mentally incapacitated in Fort Worth and El Paso, Texas. He earned his B.A. from the University of Texas at El Paso, his Masters in Public Administration from the University of North Texas and is currently completing his PhD in Public Policy and Administration at Walden University.

It is also humbling that the Governing Board entrusted in my hands the future of this invaluable agency, especially in these uncertain times for the Health and Human Service field. It is with determination and confidence that I have accepted this appointment. I am ready to devote to the IHSS Public Authority of Marin not only my eighteen years of experience in social services but also my personal commitment to the values of equality, compassion and justice, and to the vulnerable populations of our County”.

IHSS PA of Marin is a vital resource for in-home care serving Medi-Cal eligible older adults and people with disabilities who qualify for in-home support services in order to remain safely in their homes with dignity and independence.

IHSS PA of Marin is a public entity separate and distinct from the County of Marin which is overseen by a Governing Board appointed by the Board of Supervisors, a majority of which are recipients of some type of in-home supportive service through IHSS PA of Marin. The County of Marin Aging and Adult Services Division administers the IHSS PA program. The Public Authority works in collaboration with the County to serve IHSS PA consumers and also serves as a community forum through which their clients, providers, and other stakeholders provide input and make decisions on service delivery issues.
