Volunteers Needed for the Human Race
May 5th – 7th

More than 100 people support the Race — an important local event that has raised over $7.5M for causes to date

SAN RAFAEL & NAPA, CA — Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) encourages people to be a part of the largest collaborative fundraising event of its kind in Marin as a volunteer. The CVNL Bay Area Human Race™ is a vital awareness and fundraising event open to nonprofits, schools and groups. Race day features a 5K run/walk at the Marin County Civic Center Fairgrounds and Lagoon Park, including music, Kids Races and activities, a dog walk, and the Community Village Fair.

Approximately half of the 100 volunteers needed have already signed up. CVNL is working on filling the remaining spots and encourages people to come out and support our community by volunteering on one or more days. Volunteers are needed on the two days prior to the event, and on Race day, May 7.

All volunteers will receive a FREE Human Race t-shirt and CVNL bag. Volunteers who help out on Race day will enjoy the FREE pancake breakfast and coffee, dozens of attractions and refreshments at the Community Village, and receive an exclusive parking pass.

Volunteer opportunities include:

T-shirt & Bib Distribution:
Thursday, May 5, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., or 12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Friday, May 6, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., or 12:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Organize and distribute bibs and t-shirts at our CVNL office for pre-registered runers.

Community Village Set-Up:
Friday, May 6, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Set up tables, chairs, and umbrellas and other materials all throughout the Marin Center Fairgrounds for the Community Village.

Volunteer Booth Support:
Saturday, May 7, 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Assist CVNL Volunteer Services team with coordinating Bay Area Human Race Volunteers. This includes greeting volunteers, distributing volunteer t-shirts, making sure that volunteers find the correct station for their assignment, and helping reassign volunteers if necessary, depending on needs.

Will Call Support:
Saturday, May 7, 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Distribute bibs for pre-registered race participants.

Course Race Monitors:
Saturday, May 7, 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Line the race course to ensure that runers are staying within the boundaries and heading in the correct direction. Motivate and cheer on runers. Help break down course & (may include some lifting) when race is finished.

For decades this Bay Area Human Race has been a critical fundraiser, advocacy tool and community-building event open to all nonprofits and schools. The 2015 Bay Area Human Race attracted 1,500 runers and more than 3,000 community supporters. Nearly 100 Marin nonprofits and businesses were featured. Over the past thirty three years, the Bay Area Human Race has raised over $7.5 million dollars for nearly 2,000 local nonprofits. Race day features a fun and energizing 5K run/walk at the historic Marin County Civic Center lagoon park and fairgrounds, including music, kids races and activities, a dog walk, the Community Village Fair and a pancake breakfast. The event is open to everyone — and the entire community is invited to participate.
