Understanding the Hierarchies of Nonprofit Governance and Maintaining Governmental Filings

Good nonprofit governance includes understanding the hierarchy of governing authorities—both documentary authorities and positional authorities. In this roundtable, you will learn the four documentary authorities and three positional authorities and how they interact in the governance of nonprofit leadership. In addition, we will discuss the required governmental filings at the federal and state level and how missing those filings can result in losing your tax-exempt status.
