This five-session learning series is designed to support any nonprofit professional who manages people. Ideal for newly promoted managers as well as managers with experience. 

9/28/2023, 9 am - 12 pm - Day 1: The Manager's Role 

Whether you are entering a management role for the first time or have been managing people for years, this session will provide a helpful framework. Learn about the unique role of the manager and gain knowledge about management principles, management and leadership styles, and how emotional intelligence supports performance.

10/5/2023, 9 am -12 pm - Day 2: Manager as Coach 

Explore the manager’s role as a coach and how to build a coaching culture and practice within your team. Learn coaching approaches and the art of powerful questions.

10/12/2023, 9 am - 12 pm - Day 3: Managing for Equity and Inclusion

Today’s workplace demands managers who are conscious, competent, and strategic in diversity, inclusion, and equity principles and practices. This session will enhance your awareness and provide management concepts that create an environment of support and belonging for all your employees.

10/19/2023 9 am - 12 pm - Day 4: Engaging Meaningfully with Employees  

Transparent and authentic communication is the best way to build trust, motivate, and engage employees. This includes giving and receiving feedback, setting clear goals, and measuring performance. This session will also include HR Fundamentals for managers.

10/26/2023, 9 am - 12 pm - Day 5: Applying the Skills – The Manager's Toolkit  

This session will focus on applying management concepts and tools to real scenarios with a focus on effective problem-solving, leading with compassion and empathy, team-building, collaboration, delegation, and more.


  • 10% discount for groups of 3 of more registering from the same organization, OR

BIPOC Scholarship:
BIPOC scholarship is available for BIPOC participants of nonprofit organizations. Priorities are given to CVNL members.  Scholarship recipients do not have to be from a CVNL member organization.

NOTE: In order for participants to earn certificates and eBadges for the L&L programs, they must attend at least 80% of the sessions, e.g. if there are five sessions to the series, the participant may only miss one session and still earn the certificate and eBadges. 

Cancellation policy: If plans change and you are no longer able to attend, we will transfer your enrollment and payment to the next program cycle. Funds must be applied and used within a 6 (six) month period. We do not offer refunds.
