CVNL Announces New Director of Business & Fund Development

SAN RAFAEL, CA, May 7th, 2019 – Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) is pleased to welcome Nora Niesen, who has joined their team as the new Director of Business & Fund Development. Prior to CVNL, Nora developed a wealth of experience on both the giving and asking sides of philanthropy. Most recently, she managed institutional fundraising at Guide Dogs for the Blind, and previously she worked in fundraising and business development at the Foundation Center and in grants management for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation in New York City.

“I am excited to contribute to an experienced team doing meaningful and well-respected work to empower those we serve,” said Niesen. “I look forward to helping build CVNL’s strategic funding, increasing awareness of our programs and services, and ultimately helping strengthen Bay Area nonprofits.”

Originally from the Boston area, Nora received a BA in Communications and Women’s Studies from Simmons University. Through an internship at the Boston women’s shelter, Rosie’s Place, Nora learned early on that she is mission-driven and that she wanted to help people and their organizations succeed. After receiving a Certificate in Fundraising from New York University, she relocated to San Francisco in 2014.

Nora and her husband recently moved to San Rafael and they are exploring the joys of Marin life, including hiking, biking, gardening, and birding. They have a rescued Rottweiler and look forward to rescuing another pet or two soon. Nora is passionate about volunteering and fundraising for human service and animal welfare organizations and looks forward to doing more in the community.

Please join CVNL in welcoming Nora Niesen as its new Director of Business & Fund Development!
