CVNL Placement Announcement: Chandra Alexandre Named CEO of Community Action Marin
CVNL is thrilled to have placed its next executive leader, Chandra Alexandre! On July 9th, Chandra will join Community Action Marin (CAM) as Chief Executive Officer. Chandra is a seasoned nonprofit executive and fund development professional with over 15 years of experience supporting organizations to social justice outcomes. Her work has helped strengthen regional affordable housing and early childhood education initiatives, expand education reform strategies nationally, and resource movement building for global women’s rights. Before her transition to the nonprofit sector, Chandra was in private banking and served in the U.S. diplomatic service.
“Community Action Marin is well poised to play a leadership role toward a vibrant Marin County. I am excited to join the agency as board and staff galvanize around a bold strategic plan with a vision for increased impact in the community,” said Chandra. “My commitment is to the families we serve today and to those we help strengthen for tomorrow.”

Community Action Marin is the largest human services provider in Marin County and is designated by the County Board of Supervisors as the “official anti-poverty agency” for Marin County. Since 1966, Community Action Marin has provided an array of services to low-income residents. The scope of those services has changed over the years to meet the emerging needs of low-income people in Marin and today includes Marin Head Start, Child Development Program, Central Kitchen, Early Childhood Workforce Development, Financial Literacy and Career Counseling, Energy Assistance, Volunteer Income Tax Preparation, CARE Homeless Outreach Teams, Peer Mental Health, Emergency Family Needs, Family Partnership, and Patients’ Rights Advocacy. Community Action Marin partners with 4,000 individuals, children, and families every year.
