Fundraising & Marketing Peer Learning Network

Planned Giving: Bequests and Beyond

January 21, 2025 (Tuesday) from 12 pm to 1:30 pm PST

In FY24 the SF Marin Food Bank received $3,6 million in actualized bequests and an additional $130 million in future commitments, this was the largest amount received since the planned giving program was formalized at the agency in 2020. In this session, Atashi will talk about the free resources that are out there currently to help you get started, how to market your PG program to your supporters and share some campaign material that has resonated for the Food Bank community. Giving by bequest grew by almost 5% in 2023 according to the GivingUSA Report so this is a segment of giving that can't be ignored anymore.

The speaker is Atashi Chakravarty

Atashi Chakravarty, Senior Development Campaign Manager for the SF Marin Food Bank has over 25+ years of experience in running successful on and offline fundraising campaigns and works to raise over $11.5 million to help feed families in SF and Marin. She has worked in nonprofits across the Bay Area in domestic violence prevention, children and youth services, immigrant rights and human services.  She has a BA in Economics from UC Riverside and volunteers her time helping nonprofits with a variety of fund development related problems.
