Supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Managers and Executives Serving Napa County Organizations
NAPA, CA, February 14, 2022 – Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) is pleased to announce new scholarships for its Learning & Leadership 2022 programs. Thanks to a grant from the Peter A. and Vernice H. Gasser Foundation, CVNL is offering a limited number of scholarships to Black, Indigenous and People of Color who are leaders or managers of nonprofit organizations based in or serving Napa County.
CEO Linda Jacobs expressed her appreciation saying, “We are grateful to receive this timely support from the Gasser Foundation. It is an important step in increasing equitable access and inclusive opportunities for BIPOC nonprofit leaders in Napa County.”
Earlier this year CVNL announced similar scholarship funding from the Marin Board of Supervisors Community Service Fund to support nonprofit leadership training in Marin County.
A limited number of $400 scholarship awards are available for CVNL’s cohort programs:
- Management Essentials – Spring and Summer series for new managers and those seeking to improve team performance.
- Excellence in Leadership (ELP) – 10 sessions starting in late March for executives or senior leaders of nonprofit organizations.
- Leading for Equity and Inclusion – A Five-Part Series. Sessions starting in April provide a framework for workplace policies and procedures that are equitable and inclusive.
Ines De Luna, CVNL’s Manager of Volunteer Services in Napa County, emphasized the importance of these scholarships. “Capacity building is so important for community-based organizations to enhance their impact. These scholarships are a great incentive to enable BIPOC nonprofit leaders and allies to make the institutional changes needed to create more inclusive organizations and enable more effective community engagement,” she said. “Representation at all levels is crucial for true engagement.”
