Storytelling Workshop
Improve Your Communication Using the Science of Story
June 9, 2021, 9:00am – 12:00noon

A story well-told can make all the difference...

Effective storytelling uses carefully crafted narrative to move people toward a shared understanding or a specific action. Using what we know about the human brain and how it derives meaning can help you and your team leverage your power of story as the ultimate form of communication.

Imagine if in three hours you could:

  • Structure narrative around what we know about the brain
  • Consistently structure communications using what we know makes the brain engage and remember
  • Create stories that are remembered by and inspire your target audience
  • Walk away with content that drives action: spurring donations, mobilizing supporters, and more!
Master Storyteller and renowned author Kendall Haven will lead us through a morning of discovery, exploration, and application. As individuals or in teams, you will be introduced to storytelling science, be given the building blocks for crafting compelling stories, then create your own!

Whether you’ve been working on your stories for years, or you’re staring at an empty page, this workshop will offer you an invaluable perspective on developing stories that inspire, ignite action, and that are unforgettable.

Harness the power of effective storytelling for the strategic benefit of your organization and society as a whole!

We encourage changemakers of all types to attend, especially current and aspiring marketers, communicators, fundraisers, and executive directors/CEOs. Teams are encouraged to sign up and will be offered a 20% discount.

    About Kendall:

The only West Point graduate to ever become a professional storyteller, Haven also holds a graduate degree in Oceanography (Oregon State University) and spent eight years as a Senior Research Scientist for the Department of Energy before finding his true passion for storytelling and a very different kind of "truth."

With 30 years of experience as a performing storyteller, and after two decades leading the research effort for the National Storytelling Association and the International Storytelling Center, Haven has emerged as a Master Storyteller and as the nation’s leading Subject Matter Expert on the neuro- and cognitive science of story, on story structure, and on story architectural design.
