Join CVNL for this invigorating and informative workshop that will teach you all the right steps to plan for and submit good grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and individual donors. No matter what level of experience you have, you'll find the A to Z of planning, writing and submitting high quality proposals here! This workshop will be held remotely on Zoom.

You will learn how to:

  • Plan effectively for your grant writing efforts
  • Understand the funder before writing
  • Write a funder-centered narrative
  • Avoid common mistakes and pitfalls in communication


ABOUT: Nora Niesen is the Director of Development at Raphael House of San Francisco, a shelter and service provider for families experiencing homelessness. Nora joined Raphael House in January 2021, following 6 years of fundraising in the Bay Area - with CVNL and Guide Dogs for the Blind - and 11 years of experience on both the giving and asking sides of philanthropy in New York City. Prior to working in the nonprofit sector, Nora worked in marketing and sales in the higher education publishing field. Nora received a BA in Communications from Simmons University in Boston and a Certificate in Fundraising from New York University. Nora thrives on helping organizations and their people succeed and she loves all aspects of fundraising, especially prospect research, grant writing, and donor engagement. Nora lives with her husband and two rescued Rottweilers in Marin and enjoys hiking, exploring dog-friendly parks and beaches, camping, wine-tasting, and traveling to spend time with friends and family, near and far.
